Do you fear the unknown? Remember, as a child, you may have had a fear of the dark. And what was it really? It was just some thoughts you had about not knowing what was outside of what you could see. On Friday morning I was at a business networking breakfast and speaking to one of the guests at my table. We were exchanging introductions and asking each other more about our businesses and what we did. When I mentioned my interest in hypnosis he sort of changed his body language and his tone of voice. Interested in this change I started to explore what was happening for him. I asked what he knew about hypnosis. His response caught my attention. He said "I don't know much about hypnosis but its about someone else controlling your mind, isn't it?" Wow! This is a common misconception and actually the opposite of what is true about hypnosis. "Let me explain" was my reply. You won't do things in hypnosis that you wouldn't do ordinarily. I'll use a simple example for you. What would you say to me if I came up to you in the street and said "Go rob that bank". Most likely you'd say no and walk away. Same thing in hypnosis. If you were in trance and I said "Go rob that bank" - so long as this was outside your core values - you would not rob a bank. Does that make sense for you? When you are hypnotised you become very relaxed and focused on my voice as your hypnotist. This enables me to speak with...your unconscious....mind. In my "change clinic" situations - people tell me what they want to do - become non-smokers, lose weight etc. People who come to my comedy hypnosis show are coming to have some fun, entertainment and a laugh. My role as the hypnotist is to act as the navigator. This means that you remain the captain of your ship and that you are in control! Just tell me what you want to achieve and where you want to go. Enjoy your day and "Go Downunder - inTrance". |
