What does a hypnotist do before a show?

Hi everyone, hope you are enjoying you ANZAC Day break if you're in Australia or New Zealand. Such a significant event in our histories down under. Like a coming of age as our two nations grew.
However, my post today is on this question. What does a hypnotist do before a show?
Now many of you would have had the opportunity (or misfortune, depending upon your outlook) to speak in public. Maybe giving a speech at a wedding or other big event. Maybe at a work function. The majority of people have Public Speaking as their number one fear.
Yet, doesn't have to be that way. You fee from your fears.
When I perform a show in front of a live audience with volunteers who can react in many different ways it's possible that the show could be like that public speaking situation...on steroids.
So what does a hypnotist do?
Very simply....I change the meaning of all the things that can happen in the show.

Here is my routine preparation and maybe you can use these tips to prepare for your own events.

1. Practice, practice, practice. Very simply, know your subject matter so well that it doesn't matter what happens. Whatever mishaps occur your knowledge of your subject matter allows you thinking space to handle other challenges.
2. See the end from the beginning. Just like Steve Covey says in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Picture your positive outcomes as you would like to have them. Maybe hear the applause of the audience, see them standing as they clap, feel that sense of satisfaction that you have given your audience more than they were expecting.
3. Imagine travelling in time to 15 minutes after the SUCCESSFUL completion of the event. Look back and see what you did to have that occur..
4. Practice daily meditations that include positive affirmations of your skills, confidence etc. I record mine on my iPhone and play them back often. Self hypnosis works!
5 Remember - What you expect is most likely what will occur. So stay focused on your positive outcome.

That's it in a nutshell. If you want help with your own situation feel free to contact me on

I'm off to Manly Fishos now for some hypnosis demonstrations. See you at a show somewhere near you soon!
